Christmas story competition
The judges were very impressed with the number and excellence of the entries. They were all of a high quality, very imaginative and creative.
After much deliberation the winner for the junior age category was adjudged to be 7-year old Thea Chatha’s delightfully illustrated account of “A Bauble Christmas“. Sunaya Nanda age 6 came second for her story entitled “The White Snow”.
Three entries were highly commended: Teddy Crabb age 7 for “I am dreaming of a chocolate Christmas”; Vivaan Sivanandham age 8 for “The new Santa” and 8 year-old Stuart Butler for his very original tale of “A Christmas in Little Chalfont from a Peacock Butterfly’s point of view”.
In the older age group Rosaria Walker, age 12, received first prize for her entry for “Not just Christmas”. This was a very insightful piece, evoked by the emotion of Christmas.
Meriet Duncan, a local author (Betsie Valentine and the Honeybees) presented the prizes. The children - and their parents - were very excited to meet a real live author!
