The Penultimate Wednesday Book Group meets every month in the library to share our enthusiasm & love of books with other like-minded, bookish people.
Each month we agree on a book to read and then we bring along our opinions, both positive and negative, to the next meeting to discuss in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. It's a great chance to read authors you may not naturally choose yourself, and also to introduce others to your favourite authors.
Books we have read and discussed include The Goldfinch [Donna Tartt], Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine [Gail Honeyman], Darkness at Noon [Arthur Koestler] & Prodigal Summer [Barbara Kingsolver]. However, the choice is up to those attending, and we discuss all kinds of fiction [both 'literary' and 'light'] as well as non-fiction.
We meet at 7:45 in the library on the last but one Wednesday of the month. Meetings usually last about an hour, but that's entirely up to who comes along. We all take turns to provide drinks and snacks.
